Filming.

Filming Take 1

I filmed last week and a few problems occured.

• One of the band members didn't show
• The man who was supposed to open the venue didn't show (Meaning no location / lighting etc)
• The memory cards filled ridiculously fast and couldn't film much more
• The camera went flat and broke for no reason even though it was fully charged

This therefore meant that I had to adjust to what had happened. Luckily it was no problem for me to manage with one of the guitarists missing, so that was easily fixed.
My Parents used to be on the Church Committee meaning that it was easy for me to think of a different location - The Church.
We went and filmed in the church and the shots went surprisingly well, I did the whole song twice before the camera died. This therefore meant that I only had shots of the drummer from different angles.

Over the next few weeks

The band then became unavailable to film as they did not respond to my messages so I had to find a replacement. Unfortunately I could only find one person so I planned to have just a single vocalist performance video in a wooded area with two car headlights and some flood lights lighting up the area.

Filming Take 2

Everything was set up to film, lighting, cameras, music etc. but then I realised that I had misplaced my memory card. This therefore means that I have got to film Thursday the 31st October and edit my film on the 1st of November ready for the deadline.

Things to make sure that it works the third time

I shall make sure this evening that I have got everything is ready and that the person that is going to be in it is 100% going to do it.

Change of Band Members and His Outfit.

My previous band members have decided that they are no longer available for filming. This therefore meant that I had to ask someone else to be in it. My video will now be a one person performance video, still at The Vault, with possibly some narrative shots of the vocalist walking around singing. Depending on lighting. Unfortunately due to deadlines and the unfortunate cancellation of the band, I have not had any time to plan what I shall be filming. However, some thought has gone into it and I shall film the song around 10-12 times at different camera angles and then again outside whilst he is singing.

Continuity

When filming I shall put marks on the floor, with masking tape, for where the band should be stood. This will help improve the continuity of the video as it will enable them to look like they are staying in the same place. Which they will be due to the markers.

I shall also put marks on the floor for where I will stand for the shots and write on them what shots I will have to stand there for.

Week Beginning 07/10/2013

This week I will:

Consider representations in your music video (who/what, why, where, how)

Apply relevant narrative theorists to your music video

Write risk assessment

 

When that is all complete I shall start filming hopefulyl on Sunday.

Band and Location

After a discussion with the band last night we came to the conclusion that they are all free to film Sunday the 13th of October. I have just emailed The Vault confirming that they can do that date. I shall now start to do Safety checks etc.

Primary Album Cover Trial x2

Primary Album Cover Trial.

Album and Tour Poster.

I have decided to make my Poster an Album and Tour poster as this is what most bands are doing recently. For example Bring Me The Horizon.


Although the Album part is only small, it will enable the fans to know that the tour will be connected to the album.

Digipak Photos.

Tonight (02/10/13) I plan to go to Catthorpe Manor and take photos at sunset of the Forest and the Lake. These shall hopefully be used in my digipak, if not then I shall take photos of the band when I meet with them over the next few weeks.

Members.

I have messaged the band members asking if they would be able to let me know what dates they are free so that I can see when I can film, this will enable me to respond to The Vault letting them know when I can film.

Fonts for my Digipak

Due to me not liking my preliminary font of my album cover, I decided that I was going to look into the different fonts that I could include.

Inspiration For Album Covers

I found this image from http://deroy.dropmark.com/82004 which is a website which is about simplistic and geometric shapes on album covers.

 I chose the idea of looking at geometric shapes from this Enter Shikari album cover as it is their symbol for their current album and I thought that it might be a good idea for me to do this as it is a recognisable trade mark for the specific album.

I typed into google 'Forests' and found this image, I chose this one because of the dark connotations behind the low lighting. I am planning on recreating this for my album cover by taking the image at sunset to hopefully get some backlighting with interesting colours.

 

I used the font / text alignment from this Bring Me The Horizon album cover as I felt that it would work well with the other aspects that I have got. I also like the transparancy of the text as it enables the background image to stand out more.

 

 

I am planning on recreating this album cover that I made on PhotoShop but with my own images which I plan to take tonight (02/10/13). I shall also work on the text font and which one I may use because I am uncertain about this one as it does not work as well as I had hoped it too.
